Do I need to wear a wetsuit?

Yes, a wetsuit is compulsory and it is your responsibility to ensure you have one on the race day. The wetsuit will not only keep you warm, but will also help you swim as it provides extra buoyancy. Wetsuits must be worn up to 25 degrees. Should the water temperature exceed 25 degrees wetsuits are not permitted and changes may be made at the event organisers discretion.

What do I wear underneath my wetsuit?

We recommend that you wear a tri-suit, but it is not compulsory. Regular sports kit is fine over a swim suit.

Can I listen to a personal music player whilst racing?

No. You will be unable to hear other competitors or the marshals when you are wearing one and consequently pose a threat to others.

Can I get a refund if I can't attend?

Please refer back to your booking terms and conditions.

How can I be sure the water is safe to swim in?

We conduct numerous scientific water tests right up to the race day to ensure the water is safe to swim in and provide suitable on water cover through highly qualified personnel.

Can I use any stroke on the swim?

You can use any stroke you desire except backstroke as this replicates the sign of distress.

Will drinking water be available?

It is your responsibility to bring enough fluid to keep yourself hydrated before and during the race; however, water will be available at the finish line.

When will I recieve my rack pack?

You will need to collect your race pack on the race day from the back of Mecca Bingo Hartlepool, although specific information will be provided within race briefing which will be received prior to close of play on Monday 9th August 2021.
